Hey Folks current water temps 58-66 degrees varying morning to evening and your location. The first big wave of spawning bass and crappie are on beds in varying north banks. The bucks have been aggressive and the females are hit and miss on the beds. Most of my better females are staged in 4-7′ of water on wood also using the live scope to locate the staged bass. We are catching these better females fishing in front of the boat paralleling the shore while looking for bedding pairs. My favorite bait for this is by far the swim jig as I can throw it normal and pitch at a bedding fish. Other baits that work well fishing the staged fish are a Sassy Swimmer, 1.5’s, Chatterbaits and don’t count out the forgotten spinnerbait. When fish are on beds my choice baits are a wacky merthiolate trick worm with a nail weight, senko or jig or craw bait. If you have a biggun on a bed and she is not cooperating try a trash fish by little creeper! Next full moon April 6th and this will be game on all around the lake in all phases as well as getting close to the start of the shad spawn when mainlakes start hitting consistent temps 65- 70 degrees.
